Announcing the next WAAGH on July 5th.
This WAAGH has come around relatively quickly due to the previous WAAGH being pushed out a week. Lots going on this WAAGH so read below for details.
Last WAAGH was a small turnout with the expected numbers for the Magic the Gathering event extremely disappointing. It was a chance for the Magic community to support WAAGH to help with larger events in the future. Due to the poor number (none) the WAAGH will be leaving the Magic the Gathering events to OMG. OMG will need your support to provide organised play from Wizards of the Coast. So far the turnouts to the scheduled Friday Night Magic have been disappointing and will need more numbers. This is a call out to the Albany Magic the Gathering Community, start supporting the events being organised.
There was plenty of board games happening at the last WAAGH with XCOM making a popular reappearance. Smash Up also got some popular attention and was well received by those playing the game. Due to the lack of numbers there was not a huge amount of alternative play however 40k still had several games in action.
The kitchen was well supported despite the lack of numbers and as a result the WAAGH managed to break even. This is great news for the WAAGH and means we can start planning for the future.
It must be noted that a BIG thank you must go to John Gill who has provided the rolls for the WAAGH for free from Brumbys Bakery in Brooks Garden complex. A massive thank you to John and Brumby's and we will be making note of that soon on the site.
To plans of the future now and as some of you are aware, I will have to take a step back from organising due to expecting my first child later in the year. As such we will NEED at least 1 extra person to step up and help run the WAAGH. We will be finalising jobs and details later to help people decide but we may need an extra person for this so people can rotate around. The WAAGH will also NEED volunteers to assist at the WAAGH once a year. Without this support it will be a challenge for the WAAGH to continue.
We also plan to use any extra income from the WAAGH to start offsetting entry fees, supporting gaming events and providing better equipment for people to use. Gilcreek are very supportive of what we are doing so I feel this could be a great chance for the gaming community to come together and move forward. However we need your help. Not everyone uses Facebook, or twitter, or will visit a forum. It is up to you to tell your friends, remind you mates and generally help get people to the WAAGH.
So onto the next WAAGH and the details are below.
Sunday July 5th
Doors open at 10:00am. Final games to be packing up around 5:00pm for cleanup.
Gilcreek Scout Camp
Drinks supplied at $2 each and a Sausage Sizzle at $3 each.
40k and Netrunner.
That's right a DOUBLE feature. Why? Well lets just put it down to bad timing and good timing. Good timing in the fact the Netrunner community is growing and we would like to support them and bad timing that the support is growing now and we have been planning the 40k event for a while
So the 40k event. While the WAAGH was in hiatus there was a small band of 40k players who met at Corey's shed regularly. Although some may argue this was nearly the end of the WAAGH it was also the only reason it continued. As such we are holding this event to say thank you to the 40k community. Ben Shephard is organising the event and more information can be found at both the WAAGH site and the facebook group page with details listed below.
We ask you to please comment on the event that will be created and make it clear you are coming for this event as we need to make sure we have enough room for the 40k and also cater for any Fantasy Games.
WAAGH Announcement and Details
On to the Netrunner event. Netrunner has provided to be quite popular and is a great, competitive, balanced game. In conjunction with the OMG we are trying to build the community. As such there will be fortnightly "casual league" nights on Thursday's at OMG. Points accrued will allow for seeding at the Bi Monthly WAAGH Netrunner Double Elimination Event. This WAAGH will be the first Double Elimination Event. This will be a test event to introduce the Double Elimination system, get people introduced to a "attendee organised" event and make sure, as organisers, we are prepared for bigger events in the future. We are waiting on some prize support that will be used at the WAAGH events for attendees over 8. For more information see the link below.

We hope to see you all at the next WAAGH and look forward to a growing community.
