There will be no ringers at Ultimates. Such has been the policy for the last few years (for various reasons). The process in the case of a last minute cancellation or no-show is outlined in each of the player guides for the event and is as follows:
In the event of a no-show, the organizers will have a reserve player prepared to take their spot, or a bye will be awarded to a low ranked player (by generalship score) each round for the remaining rounds of the tournament.
As Yordan is now judging he has removed himself from selection as a player this year (which he was aware of when he accepted the spot on the team). As a judge, he has been privy to information which would compromise the integrity of the event if he were to contend as a player. Not to mention, we'd need to find a third judge again at last minute!
We actually had a reserve player already organised for Ultimate Warhammer, but unfortunately that person also recently had to withdraw. I'm currently chasing up the next options and I'm hopeful that we'll be able to fill the spot at this late notice - but I certainly can't make any guarantees.
Obviously a bye round is something that we want to avoid if possible (and I'll do my best to fill the spot following the outlined process) for all concerned, but sometimes life gets in the way for people and we have to make do. Fingers crossed that I can sort it in time.
