4 great games today (thanks Chops, John, Adam & Duro).
REALLY enjoyed myself.

Low points for the day:
Teleporting in Terminators and then losing the strategy roll... to Guard!
Watching the Eldar dance all around me when I thought I was in a game winning position.
Failing dangerous terrain test with units with Walker (only twice though in 4 games).

Highlights from today:
5 Dreadnought plus 1 Defiler BTS not being wiped out all day (John got them down to 1 Dreadnought though).
Killing Warhounds with shooting (rather than engagements).
Being able to field an all Fearless army... oh yeah 8-)

Many thanks to Duro for running the show.
Can't wait until next Sunday!

well my first day of the campaign was 4 games of suck

suffered dice hate (i swear my marines were wearing flak armour discarded by ratlings!) and dopey brain moments during all 4 games...

seems ppl were happy i didnt bring the Squats this time :D

Game 1 vs John (Eldar)
John has really clicked with his army of choice and seems to be on the way to being a contender, he ripped me a new one in our game and had a really solid list...also that Falcon formation is just crazy with the amount of firepower it can put out...i failed almost every armour save in this game but really i was just plain outclassed in this game!

Game 2 vs Adam (Titan Legion)
Adam is new to the game but is a fast learner, i got lucky smashing his BTS warhound but otherwise he just administered a fatal beating to my marines. More activations and good use of movement saw him take the initiative and never really let me back into the game. close on the score board but really i didnt have much left at the end.

Game 3 v Scott (Minervan Tanks)
I had 2 formations of termies starting offboard and Scott knew exactly what to do. He castled up and waited until i committed the termies in turn 3 before rolling off his objective to take the game convincingly. I was really stupid in the use of my land speeders in this game, wasted them early in the game for no benefit.

Game 4 v Steve (Iron Warriors)
A game of who sucked the least. Steve managed to fail 2 difficult terrain checks with walkers (2+ with a reroll) and i managed to lose the strategy roll the turn the termies arrived. Surprise performer was my Predator detachment...survived most of the game and managed to kill a Decimator in one turn of shooting.

Thanks to the fellas for the games today - happy to help ur faction scores on the first day of the campaign :D

The points for the campaign are calculated as follows:
Win (victory goals) – 5
Win (victory points) – 4
Draw – 2 (Victory Points difference of less than 100 points)
Loss – 1
Fully painted army – 1 (this means every stand/vehicle/etc is done to a table top standard)
Claim all five victory goals in a game – 1

week 2 moments for me...

Jason cursing Land Speeders all game and in the end they indeed cost him a victory...his Orks failing activation/rallying rolls in the late stages of the game was getting a bit ridiculous...one failed activation ended up costing him the game, cause it meant he couldnt shoot at my last two Land Speeders and break them...the Land Speeders then darted off to contest objectives, thus denying Jason his victory...

John getting excited that he had broken one of my marine formations and then remembering And They Shall Know No Fear, which means they werent broken would continue to annoy his Eldar...this happened a few times, much to my amusement :D

Jason's Gargant succumbing to the fires started during the assault by the Terminators...stupid war engines!

Indeed he did. What a funny old fellow.

Thanks for the games John and Duro. You're right Duro about those Landspeeders, little gits.

My highlight was the abysmal effort of John's Avatar, no hits in CC and then fails all three saves.

2 good games for me with Simon and Al (both had blue armies as well).

My 3000pt game with Simon was a comedy of dice errors. It was really quite weird to fail so many armour saves. It wasn't all bad (Simon had a fair share of weird dice as well) and I was down right lucky to score 2 victory goals when I managed to destroy his Warlord titan with a critical roll on turn 3 which gave me Blitz and Break Their Spirit (his titan had been guarding the Blitz). Fortunately for Simon, he had 3 Victory Goals (Blitz with the secret bonus point and Break Their Spirit) and really won the game quite easily despite the score.

My 2000pt game with Al (playing Steel Legion Guard) was quite different. We played corners and proceeded to spread our armies out as both players had artillery. Al fixated on my Terminators and wisely deployed his army behind a scout screen of Sentinels.
The first turn consisted of me trying to take out Al artillery (and failing) and taking pot shots at his garrisoned infantry formation (the only thing in range of most of my army). Al spent most of the turn putting formations on overwatch, waiting for the Terminators to appear.
Turn 2 saw me moving most of my army closer to the Guard and managing to draw out 1 of Al's Warhounds (which left a hole inside the defence for Terminators to teleport into in turn 3).
Turn 3 the Terminators appeared and killed a Warhound with no loss. I managed to break the other Warhound and then concentrated on killing Al's Chimeras to slow down his Supreme Commander formation. I wanted to keep him out of my half of the board and defend all 3 of my objectives. It all worked quite well but the broken Warhound managed to rally at the end of the turn which denied my They Shall Not Pass. Fortunately I still won the game as I had the special victory Goal bonus of Defend the Flag which gave me a 2:0 win.

A win and a loss for the day and both games were great fun!
