BTW - GW jumped the shark when they went to shareholders over customers.
Yes, GW jumped the shark when they went to a business model that is adopted by pretty much every company ever.
haha, i dont mind their business model.

back to the topic. the reason Diskwars is whack in my opinion is that it looks to take people away from the tabletop version with an inferior tabletop game. Diskwars, from what i can see (i have not played the game) is a tabletop game using cardboard units. the boardgames and RPGs are not in the same competing medium as the tabletop, this kind of is.

I actually find talisman to be well...quite okay.

It's good for getting non-gaming people to boardgame, and slowly to wargaming.

It's better than Risk anyway :)

Agreed - it's like all of the licensed material, be it books, video games, board games etc. It has the potential to spark interest, with very little risk to GW's main income stream.

If it's done well, like Chaos In The Old World, I'm sure it will lead to potential players checking out the miniatures line. No-one can argue that the worlds GW has created for WHFB or WH40K aren't interesting enough to attract new followers. I still read the novels, even if I don't play the miniatures games anymore, and I'm sure people come to the hobby from a variety of sources.

That is very true. I got hooked by the dawn of war 2 games.
It was fun to play also wondered why they constantly carried on about this emperor guy so after a little curiousity whallah. Hello 40k tabletop wargaming. Mind you you could still buy 50 cadians for $50 then.

I guess a lot of GW players don't paint any models... So maybe this will appeal to them? I don't know :P

I could have sworn this was going to be a thread about those centurion things before I looked.

I don't see the issue with this at all. Seems like fun.
Hopefully the rules are in the hands of FFG instead of GW, or players will have to roll a dice every time an ambiguity inevitably comes up

Nothing was wrong with Talisman, it was and still is a fun lite game - very beer and pretzels.
GW was once run by gamers and hobbyists and now it seems they have taken the hobby out of the hobby game.

As for FFG, they do make a lot of great games - X-wing, Battlestar Galactica, Gears of War, DOOM, StarCraft are particular favourites of mine.
Pretty much any thing by Corey Konieckza will be a well thought out and tested game.

So I'd expect this game to be decent quality at the least, no matter how odd it seems.
