Bloggin seems to be the thing on Westgamer lately and thinking about it since my last post to this thread I haven't done nothing, rather moved to a WordPress. However, it occurs to me that if you didn't know that, or don't do the WordPress thing (or don't want to) then your missing out.

In the interest of sharing more locally, I'm going to re-blog parts here and put a link up to the blog. I'll also put up some works in progress, which I generally don't do on my blog.

Bolt Action is the thing at the moment and if you've been following the Rising Fury thread you've possibly seen a lot of my recent stuff.

To relaunch things here's a WiP shot of my kubelwagon, ready for decals and weathering.

Image

Probably going to go light on the mud rather than heavy like I did on my Panzer II

Image

Following on from that I've got more infantry lined up and a couple more of Bob Murch's "Pulp Action" officers for scenario objectives.

Image

... and a Sd Kfz 233.

However, today's blog post is ...

Dino Riders of the 3rd Reich

I saw a Kubelwagon. Then I saw a Panzer II. Then a couple of other German stuff.

Then Dino Riders!

They look like hilarious good fun! Nice Panzer II tank by the way. The weathering looks perfect!

SS dino riders are legit. Hitler cloned them based on dinosaur DNA found on an insect trapped in a piece of amber. Oh wait...

They look awesome, I'm totally keen to play against them! You could use the rules for cavalry pretty easily.

totes... I found proof on the internet! Stay out of the tall grass!

:D

They were a lot of fun to paint, and I did buy them for that, just for fun. I've also got a Feldgendarm with Raptor pack. Eureka also do Stukasaurus and Flakasaurus 8)

Regular Cavalry seems a bit tame, those dino have more bite than a horse. I was thinking for Bolt Action +1 Assault dice or ignore difficult terrain like bocage because if Jurassic Park has taught us one thing it's how well those things can jump  but I haven't really looked hard at rules, or even what regular cavalry rules are. I guess even giving them the Fanatic rule would do.

I don't think you need to worry about tame cavalry. If what I've seen of the Polish cavalry is correct they get 3 assault dice, 4 if equipped with lances. Warlord games has an army deal for a tournament winning (Britcon) early war Polish army that includes 24 lancers!

Great to see so many great blogs popping up on Westgamer. I wish I was better at remembering to post here when I post to my WordPress blog. :(

That mud effect looks great! I would never have thought to combine baking soda and PVA glue but the end result looks suitably crusty.

With the German grey tanks you really do need mud and weathering to avoid them looking like Nuremberg Rally showroom models.

Hehe... yeah I considered the grey brown colour scheme, but I wanted to muddy it up, so the brown camo is the mud! ;)

So surprise renovations just after Christmas have put a dent in the painting schedule, but now I have the painting bench set up[ again it's time to get back on track.

The SS Officers and their goon are done.

The Sd KfZ233 is up to getting decals and mud effects added.

...and four more foot soldiers at base uniform colour (pre-camo).

They're coming along well, and the officers look great. Might have to try and track down an Indiana Jones, I was tempted by Captain America for a while there...

I stumbled across this Bolt Action Captain America conversion some time ago.
